Answers to our most commonly asked questions
Can I return my order?
All sales are final. Store credit will be considered within 7 days of purchase for unopened bottles, in good condition, and accompanied by a receipt. Credit will cover the cost of the bottle and applicable taxes only. All other fees (including shipping) will not be reimbursed. Back vintage wines (8 years or older) are not eligible for return, store credit, or exchange.
Can I cancel my order?
Once an order has left our store, we cannot accommodate cancellations or changes. If the order has not yet shipped, cancellations within 7 days of purchase are permitted and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.
Can I change my order?
Orders that have already left the store cannot be changed or cancelled. If you need to make changes to an order that has not yet shipped and is within 7 days of purchase, please contact us at contact@scarsdalewinemerchants.com immediately and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Changes after 7 days of purchase are not permitted.
Can I change an order that you are holding for me?
As a courtesy, we hold orders for weather-related, shipping, and consolidation purposes for a 3-month complimentary period. These orders are packed and transferred to our temperature-controlled storage facility and are considered final. They are not eligible to be changed or cancelled.
Can I store my wine with you?
Scarsdale Wine Merchants offers complimentary storage for 90 days in our temperature-controlled storage facility. Due to our limited space, we are unable to offer long-term storage to our clients. Should you need extended storage time and service, we are happy to recommend, introduce, and facilitate the transfer of your wine to a professional wine storage facility. $50 per month will be charged should you exceed our stated 3-month complimentary period.
Can I ship partial orders?
We do not offer partial shipments of orders. If you have multiple shipping destinations, please enter the orders separately.
We cannot accommodate partial shipping requests for orders being held in our temperature-controlled storage facility.
We understand there may be extenuating circumstances involved. Please contact us at contact@scarsdalewinemerchants.com to discuss the fees associated with your request.
Can I pick up my order?
Absolutely! Once your order has been processed, someone from our team will let you know it is ready for pick up. We can also bring it out to your car if you would prefer not to have to park.
Do you charge tax when shipping out of NY State?
Yes, we do. In 2018, the US Supreme Court ruled in the Wayfair vs South Dakota lawsuit that retailers must collect sales tax on all e-commerce orders. Since the title on all wines sold by Scarsdale Wine Merchants passes to the buyer at the time of purchase, we charge NY State sales tax on all orders.
